* Job Title: Department/Process Manager
* Function: Manufacturing
* Reports to: Operations Manager/General Manager/Managing Director

Job Purpose

To manage a single or multiple production departments or processes meeting customer delivery and quality expectations whilst maximising and continuously improving efficiencies and minimising costs.
Scope:
Financial

* Small £5 million
* Medium £5 to £25 million
* Large £25 million and over

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the production process to optimise throughput and efficiency whilst minimising waste and ensuring customer expectations for quality and delivery are met on time and in full
* Manage continuous improvements in the key aspects of manufacturing performance and customer service and quality
* Establish compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation and Group policy
* Undertake and control and revenue projects within agreed resource levels and timescales
* Recruit, develop, motivate and manage a production team that maximises its performance potential and meets current and future business needs
* Control resource expenditure for labour, direct expense and consumables within the approved budget and provide early indications of nay potential variances in order to assist the overall business forecasting
* Implement on a daily basis the adoption of best working practices and operational methods in order to maintain process efficiency and competitiveness

Qualifications
Educational and Professional

* Graduate Calibre or similar through experience/vocational qualification

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

* Minimum 3 years experience/supervisory experience in a unionised manufacturing environment
* People management skills
* Exposure to change management processes
* Communication skills
* Team building
* Negotiation/consultation skills
* Awareness of current Health and Safety, Environmental and Employment legislation/standards
* Recruitment skills
* Budget management/cost control awareness
* Print and/or Packaging industry experience
* Project management and problem solving skills
* Numerical/verbal reasoning skills
