* Job Title: Maintenance Manager
* Job Family: Manufacturing
* Reports to: Manufacturing Director/General Manager

Job Purpose:

To manage the development and operation of all engineering aspects of the factory with the primary objective of ensuing all production equipment meets expected levels of output and performance.
Dimensions:

* Turnover £10 to £35 million
* Staff Numbers 3 to 12

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure that all plant, equipment and machinery is regularly inspected and meets current Health and Safety, Environmental standards and legislative requirements
* Recruit, develop, motivate and manage an emerging/maintenance team that maximises its performance potential and meets current and future business needs
* Continually improve the efficiency of the resources within the engineering/maintenance department implementing the adoption of best working practice and engineering/maintenance methods
* Control resource expenditure for labour, direct expense and consumables within the approved budget for the department and provide early indications of any potential variances in order to assist the overall units forecasting
* Manage site contractors to ensure safe working practices are applied and work is carried out within agrees terms of reference and time scales
* Continually improve equipment performance in terms of reliability, downtime and machine induced quality problems thereby supporting the overall business drive for continuous improvement in operational efficiency
* Ensure that buildings and services are maintained to an acceptable level and within budget
* Manage the development and implementation of a preventative maintenance program to maximise machine utilisation and minimise breakdown costs

Qualifications:
Educational and Professional:

* Graduate calibre or similar through/experience/vocational qualification
* Engineering qualification

Knowledge, Skill, Experience

* Minimum 3 years experience of managing/supervising a maintenance function in a unionised manufacturing environment
* Communication/briefing skills
* Energy efficiency principles/techniques
* People management skills
* Project management and problem solving skills
* Engineering technical skills and knowledge
* Preventative maintenance procedures
* Tram building
* Print and/or Packaging industry experience
* Awareness of current health and safety, environmental and employment legislation/standards
* Budget management/cost control awareness
* Exposure to change management/continuous improvement processes and techniques
* Numerical/verbal reasoning skills
